30 Day Clothes Challenge (Days 18 - 22)

I totally fell behind with posting my 30 Day Clothes Challenge. Especially since tomorrow is my last day of the challenge (oops!). But I did keep up with the challenge, and was successfully able to come up with 30 different outfits for work. I did have to go shopping for dress pants due to my new responsibilities at work which include traveling to work onsite at the client's office a few days a week where jeans are not allowed =(, but was able to find enough tops to get by without having to purchase anything new. I am planning on posting my results though, and will do so over the next few days.

Days 18 - 22

Day 18: Monday -- Top from The Limited, jeans from Loft

30 Day Clothes Challenge (Days 10 - 17)

The challenge continues! I got behind posting my results to the challenge, and didn't get around to posting last week, but it was a short week so that's ok.

Also, I broke the no shopping rule, but that is only because I am now taking on an additional role at my job, and am now required to wear "client clothes" (aka: dress clothes), 2 or 3 days a week. I have been wearing jeans to work for almost 6 years now, so I needed some dress pants. I am not sure if I will be able to accomplish this challenge now, but I sure am going to still try and give it a try. So far I think I have enough dress tops to get by, but we will see! Next week I'll debut my new "client clothes."

Tips Tuesday: Scarves Display/Storage

So I came across this cute tip the other day on a blog that I have recently started following and wanted to share. I thought it was totally appropriate with Fall coming. I have recently started to love wearing scarves. I have purchased a few of them over the last year, and I have been keeping them stuffed into a bottom drawer of my nightstand. Not a great way to see what I have, and I tend to forget about them stuffed in the drawer.

Amanda over at Kevin & Amanda suggested hanging them on a hanger. I think it not only is useful to keep them all from getting tangled up, but it allows you to see what you have at a quick glance. And it's cute!! I can either hang in my closet next to my tops, or I could even hang it up in my bedroom as decor.

Also, check out Amanda's blog as she has a cute tutorial on 5 ways to wear a scarf. I am totally going to try them all out! You may see some scarves coming in the next few weeks of my 30 day clothes challenge!

30 Day Clothes Challenge (Days 6 - 9)

So for week 2 of the 30 Day Clothes Challenge I only worked 4 days this week, so I only have 4 days worth of postings. I had planned that the challenge would be for work only, so this week and next week will be short since I took this Friday off, and then will be off next Monday for Labor Day and Tuesday as my last vacation day before my year starts over on my work anniversary.

This week still wasn't too bad. I have a feeling the last couple of weeks will start to get harder, but I am assuming the weather should be starting to cool off a little in the next couple of weeks, so maybe I can start transitioning into Fall clothes.

This week was HOT! We had some 90 degree days, but of course our office is always chilly and probably in the 60's because of the AC. I always have to wear layers to work.

Hope everyone has had a great week, and an even more fabulous holiday weekend. I am headed off to my Grandparents house in WVa, and I am very excited to see them.

Day 6: Monday -- Top and cardigan from Ann Taylor Loft
I also wore my Great Grandmother's peal neckace

Day 7: Tuesday -- Top and cardigan from Ann Taylor Loft
I wore my silver Tiffany's heart necklace I got for Christmas from my boyfriend last year

Day 8: Wednesday -- Top and shorts from The Limited
Necklace is Lia Sophia

I also wore these shoes which are by Kenneth Cole Reaction
I love them and feel they are very SJP from the first SATC movie

Day 9: Thursday -- OSU Buckeye shirt from Buckeye Corner
This was the first OSU game of the year, so of course I had to rock my Buckeye Gear!

The Buckeye shirt is probably the only thing that will not follow the rules. I will probably wear this again on the weekends, but probably not to work for a while. It's my challenge, so I can make up the rules right?!?

30 Day Clothes Challenge (Days 1 - 5)

So like many of you, I have been starting to get the urge to go clothes shopping for the Fall season, but have been trying to hold off for a couple of reasons:

1. The weather has still been pretty warm out (upper 80's), so it's not really the best time to be buying sweaters and boots. They would just sit in my closet for another month or so.

2. I really don't need to be spending money on clothes, especially since I just bought a bunch of stuff on clearance at the Loft a few weeks ago.

3. I recently cleaned out my closet and got rid of about 4 or 5 garbage bags of clothes, and I still had a bunch of clothes that I hadn't worn in forever because I kind of forgot about them.

So I came up with this great challenge for myself that I am calling the 30 Days Clothes Challenge. I am challenging myself to wear everything in my closet before the new season starts. I am going to go 30 (work) days and not wear the same thing twice. Now pants and cardigans will be worn more than once, but tops, only once.

I decided to make this a work day only challenge because I'll be honest, sometimes I just wear sweats or workout clothes on the weekends, and that is not very exciting. So for the next 6 weeks, I'll try to wear something different to work each day. It will be challenging because Labor Day is coming up, and then I have 2 vacation days coming up, so I'll figure out something. I might throw a weekend outfit in there, or I might just extend it out, we will just see how it goes. If I can make it through the next 6 weeks, then I can reward myself with a fall outfit that I can actually wear!

Each week (on Friday), I'll post what I wore that week. It will help keep me honest. I'll post once a week as to not bore everyone with my clothing posts. So far this week wasn't hard because I could pretty much wear anything. I'll be honest though, I started to freak out by Wed because I didn't want to wear all of my favorite clothes at the beginning and then get frustrated at the end of the challenge. I think I need to plan out my outfits on the weekends so that I don't stand there in front of my closet every morning, like I typically do, wondering what to wear. So I hope you enjoy my journey, and wish me luck!

This week's results:
**Please note I apologize in advance, I haven't mastered the art of taking a picture of myself in the mirror, so hopefully over the next 6 weeks, I'll figure out how to take a decent picture of myself. Here's hoping!

Photobucket
Day 1: Monday -- Wore Ann Taylor Loft pink t-shirt and Limited jeans
with Viva Beads necklace (one of my favs!)

Photobucket
Day 1: Monday -- I also wore an Ann Taylor Loft cardigan in case
I got cold at the office, plus it was a little chilly out that morning

Photobucket
Day 2: Tuesday -- American Eagle top, Loft jeans
and Lia Sophia necklace

Photobucket
Day 3: Wednesday -- Ann Taylor Loft shirt
with faux necklace and Loft jeans

Photobucket
Day 4: Thursday -- New York & Co top, Limited jeans, necklace from
Kohls, and earrings and bracelet from Lia Sophia

Photobucket
Day 5: Friday -- Gap dress and Lia Sophia necklace
(BTW: this dress is a pretty plum color,
but it's hard to tell in this pic)

Photobucket
Day 5: Friday -- I also wore a jean jacket from dELiA*s

So that is what I wore all week. As you can see, I wear a lot of jeans to work, but I am hoping to start mixing up with more dress pants. I also love to wear a dress to work about once a week. Usually for a client meeting or on Fridays. We are allowed to wear jeans to work, but if we do have a client meeting, we have to dress up. A very big perk to my job!

Hope you enjoyed, and stop back next Friday to see if I made it through another week!

Ann Taylor Loft Fall Preview

I received an email today announcing the Ann Taylor Loft Fall Preview (available now online and in stores). Here are some of my fav's:

I love not only the color of this cardigan, but also the ruffle. I will for sure add this to my collection.

I really like this pattern, and of course love the pink and puple. I would probably wear with a white or gray cardigan since I can't wear sleeveless to work (or I would freeze!).

I thought this top had a very unique neckline, and this bronzy/orange color just screems fall.

I really like the neckline of this dress, and the red color is so pretty. I could see myself wearing with tall black boots for fall (and a black cardigan of course!)

I really liked the watercolor pattern of this dress, but I think I would need to add a belt so I looked like I had a waist. Again, would be cute with black boots or heels.

Love these ballet flats. I really like the flower/feathers embellishment.

Wear Your Lilly

So I found out yesterday that today is National Wear Your Lilly Day. It's funny because I was planning on wearing my Lilly dress today for a client meeting. When I found out about National Wear Your Lilly Day, I thought all the better. So this is the only piece of Lilly I own (clothing), so here I am in my Lilly.

The cardigan is from Loft. I always seem to wear cardigans to work, especially in the summer, because I typically freeze all day long at work. I actually got a ton of compliments on my dress today. Of course no one around here even knows about Lilly, they just thought it was cute.

Here is a close up of the pattern. They are little blue crabs, which I thought were really cute. I actually purchased this dress on Ebay, which is the only way I would have been able to buy a Lilly, and who knows, maybe someday I'll add to my collection.

My Style - 4/9/10

I was really happy with my outfit today. This doesn't always happen, which I think most women will relate to! =) Anyway, just wanted to share a little bit of my style with you.

Photobucket

Jeans, belt and cardigan from Ann Taylor Loft

Shoes (you can't tell but they are dark blue peep toes with a little silver accent) and top from Macys (from a few years ago)

Photobucket

Here is a close-up of the top. It is a really shiny fabric, with puffy sleeves, and has a lot of fun blue and green colors. I adore this cardigan. I got this over the winter at Loft, and it has some fun fabric flowers on the upper left hand side (you can't see in the pic), and it has fun sparkly buttons. I wear cardigans almost all the time. Even in the summer because my office is always cold and you have to wear lots of layers to keep warm. I am also lucky because I get to wear jeans almost every day (unless I have a client meeting).

Photobucket
My newest favorite pieces from Lia Sophia. I finally got these earrings a few days ago from when I attended one of my friend's parties a few weeks ago. The picture doesn't do them justice, but the teardrops are a really deep blue, and the stones at the top are a real sparkly lighter blue. And I love this bracelet. I wear it almost every day!

Thanks for taking a look at my style today!

Pink Saturday -- 4/3/10

Happy Pink Saturday everyone! And Happy Easter!

Easter is one of my favorite holidays, really mostly for the meaning of Easter. Typically we go to church and then have a nice lunch with the family.

One of our Easter traditions is that we have to wear a new outfit for Easter. I have had a new outfit I believe every year (except one year I remember it snowed, so my spring dress wasn't going to keep me warm, so I had to break out a pair of dress pants). The tradition is if you don't wear a new outfit, a bird will poop on your head!! My Mother claims that happened one time to her Grandmother, so it is a must to have something new!

This is my Easter dress from last year

Photobucket
This is me and my nephew Jackson. Isn't he adorable. I got this dress last year from Ann Taylor Loft and just absolutly loved the blue in this dress!

This is my Easter dress I am planning on wearing this year:

Photobucket
This is a Lilly Pulitzer dress that I got off of Ebay a few months ago. I had been looking at Lilly dresses for some time, but couldn't bring myself to paying full price for one. When I found this dress on Ebay for $39.99 (including shipping), I immediatly placed a bid. I figured I would be outbid, but no one else placed a bid, so in a few short days, it was all mine. I was so excited when I got the dress, because it fit perfectly!

Photobucket
I also got these sandals last weekend at DSW. They are wedges, and they look very cute with the dress. I am so excited that it will be in the 70's this weekend so that I can actually wear my dress and sandals and will still be comfortable.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and is having great weather as well! And please check out Beverly's blog for even more Pink Saturday!

Frugalista Fashion Finds

This week I found some great items, at awesome prices!

Photobucket
I found this dress at Ann Taylor Loft. It was originally $89.50, and I got it on clearance for, get this, $4.88! It is a petites, so it's a little short, and I had to add a belt, but I think it will work out just fine.

I also got these sandals at Target for $17.99

Photobucket
They look to me like knock-offs of Jack Rogers Navajo sandles. I love the white gold color and think they will go with many things. Just love them!
